Jessica Tabakin (she/her)
In a decade of working as a Postpartum Doula I have always said I am working for the day our healthcare system recognizes importance of the postpartum period, prioritizes doula care, lactation support and covers these services for ALL birthing families. As a sole practitioner I have tried incarnations of covering this need, supporting organizations that are working for the cause, offering sliding scale and low cost services, working through a PSI grant, brokering one family subsidizing another’s postpartum care, contracting through a fertility acupuncturist, to realize there is only so much one provider can do solo.
Collaborating with Rainer Valley Midwives is the opportunity I have been seeking. I am delighted to work with a team of brilliant birth professionals, who intend to resolve the inequity embedded in our health care system. Being a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), I understand the importance of offering care that is collaborative; where providers work as a team, offering their observation to fill in a picture. Feeding over 145 families in the greater Seattle area, healthy, delicious meals in their postpartum period has been my favorite tool of health care. I look forward to working with & possibly cooking for your family once we find a way during the 2020 Pandemic.
